A Decade is a Long Time was composed when I was asked to write a piece for the L-Acoustics partnership with The AWFC. Having never composed for surround sound, I wanted to write a piece that could capture the 360 world inside my head, reflecting how I feel and hear on the inside.
This mix, of course in stereo doesn’t quite translate but the piece in itself was still a personal reflection of the past 10 years and the transition from my career as a teacher to becoming a composer. How entering this new industry released my creativity and helped me to realise what my purpose was.
The piece explores the ideas of ghosts and shadows, the anxiety of letting your creativity be heard and the imposter syndrome that greets you at every door. I absolutely loved this experience and this piece is a lovely memory of something very special. I hope you all enjoy it x available on all the usual streaming platforms.
